Presidential Dinner

The President of FESSH and Congress Presidents invite presidents of FESSH Member Societies to the FESSH Presidential Dinner.
The noble Safran Guild originated in the middle ages as one of the main four merchant guilds, amongst a total of twenty guilds in Basel.
Originally founded by the city’s spice merchants, the guild soon opened its doors to confectioners, aptothecaries, wig-makers, silk merchants, adventurers and other trades. Initially based at Andreasplatz, Safran Guild purchased the plot of land it still occupies today in 1423. The guild house built during that period, unfortunately, had to be demolished in 1899 when Gerbergasse was widened. Retaining the medieval character of an old Guild Hall, the new building located between Marktplatz and Barfüsserplatz was officially opened in 1902.
Today Safaran Guild is tasked with the care of maintaining the traditions it was built upon, and the continued nurture and growth of relationships within the comunity. One of the Guilds largest events takes place annually on Ash Wednesday, where guild members will meet to celebrate with a banquet and will visit other associate guilds in the city of Basel.

Opening Ceremony, FESSH Giants Awards & Welcome Reception

Where: Congress Center Basel (Congress venue)
Join colleagues from around the world to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new ones ahead of the Congress. The Organising Committee warmly invites you to the Opening Ceremony to connect with the global community of hand surgeons and therapists.
As part of the Opening Ceremony, the FESSH Giants Ceremony recognises outstanding lifetime contributions to hand surgery, celebrating pioneers in innovation, education, and leadership.
After the events the Welcome Reception will take place.
Participation is included in the registration fee.
For accompanying persons the ticket is 85 EUR.

The Altes Kraftwerk Basel brings a bold industrial backdrop to the evening, where raw architecture meets a lively, modern vibe. Enjoy a relaxed evening with freshly prepared light bites, while you unwind and connect in a unique setting.
This program is an optional social event and it is not part of the registration fee. Tickets are available for 85 EUR. If you have already registered for the congress, but not the party, you can order a ticket via email.
